Help: My Wallet Was Drained Overnight

My heart is literally sitting in my stomach right now. I just woke up, opened up my MetaMask, and watched my balance display absolute zero.

So, I am frantically typing this to ask the worst question imaginable: how to recover stolen crypto?

I always assumed I played things incredibly safe—never saving digital screenshots, burying the physical seed phrase paper inside a locked firebox—yet some phantom malicious contract somehow bypassed my basic security hygiene and siphoned out almost three Ethereum. It burns. Badly.

What I Actually Know So Far

Every single Google query I run looking for how to recover stolen crypto? simply spits out terrifyingly shady Twitter "hackers" promising instant miracles or completely useless automated help-desk bots. I'm definitely not falling for those secondary recovery scams (I read enough horror stories to know better).

I spent the last two hours obsessively analyzing the block explorer.

I can literally see my exact funds sitting idly in the thief's destination address, just mocking me through the screen.

  • Etherscan permanently proves the outgoing transfer happened at 3 AM.
  • I haven't connected to any weird NFT mints or unfamiliar decentralized exchanges recently.
  • Absolutely zero physical breaches of my actual home.

Is there a legitimate avenue left?

Chasing the Ghost

For anyone who has unfortunately survived this specific nightmare, I desperately need practical, real-world direction regarding how to recover stolen crypto? without getting fleeced a second time.

Action I Tried The Frustrating Result
Begged my fiat on-ramp support They bluntly stated they cannot reverse self-custody transfers.
Filed a local police report The desk officer looked at me like I was speaking alien cryptography.

If you've successfully navigated this absolute mess, what specific steps actually move the needle? If I manually track the movement, can specialized white-hat groups freeze the assets if the thief eventually dumps them onto a centralized exchange? Please, throw me a lifeline here.
