What is Theta Network?

I'm staring blankly at my exchange wallet right now, completely lost. Last Tuesday, a buddy swore up and down that sharing my idle internet bandwidth could pay for my weekly coffee habit. Naturally, I threw a fifty-dollar bill at the idea. Now I have these two completely different coins—THETA and TFUEL—and absolutely zero clue how they actually interact.

It sounds simple enough on paper, right? You watch streams, share your connection, get paid. Yet if someone asks me, "What is Theta Network?" I literally couldn't give them a straight answer without sweating.

I get the basic premise from reading their early 2018 technical paper. Decentralized video delivery. Sure. But I'm hitting a massive friction point trying to configure an Edge Node on my spare 2019 Mac Mini. The official documentation starts rattling off staking limits, guardian nodes, and enterprise validator pools. My eyes just glaze over completely.

Before I dump more weekend hours into this rabbit hole, maybe someone here can audit my fragmented understanding. Here is what my mental scratchpad looks like right now:

Token Name My Guessed Function Current Confusion
THETA Voting rights Why exactly do I need thousands of them just to run a standard node?
TFUEL Network gas Does watching a stream actually burn this supply, or just transfer it?

I mean, traditional content delivery networks (CDNs) cost giants like Netflix roughly $1 billion annually. Slashing those heavy operational costs via peer-to-peer sharing makes total economic sense. I just can't grasp the actual plumbing of this specific protocol.

Can someone break down the mechanics for a mildly confused IT guy trying to optimize his home server? How do you guys genuinely run this stuff without losing your minds?
